chillaxed in chi-town

Chad and I took the opportunity to escape away for a couple days over the  weekend of March 19th for a mini anniversary celebration. Back in February, we grabbed a killer deal on a swanky room for a night at the Raffaello Hotel. That was really all we had planned…decided to take the Metra down, catch a couple subways and see where the streets of Chicago led us.

We did just that—and had a blast together. February and March tend to be quite busy for us, so the timing was perfect. The Raffaello Hotel ended up being right next to the John Hancock building, just off of "The Magnificent Mile" in the heart of Downtown Chicago.

We wandered the busy streets, occasionally hopped on the subway, went to the Vivian Maier Street Photography exhibit at the Chicago Cultural Center, checked out "The Bean" in Millenium Park, visited the Contemporary Art Museum, took lots of photos, did some window shopping and dreaming, perused through the countless stores, chilled in our hotel room, watched some of the NCAA basketball tourney, enjoyed Chicago-style pizza at Gino's East, slept in for a change, and just plain relaxed. It was fantastic!

Cheers to three years of a happy marriage, and cheers to the many years ahead of us!
