Minimalist Bible: Creation Day 1

I've been a big fan of the minimalist poster designs. Taking something as complex as a person or a movie and stripping it down to one powerful graphical element that is instantly recognizable. As a designer, I love the creative and mental challenges that this concept brings. I always start to wonder "How did she come up with that?" or "That part of the movie was such a small part, but it totally makes sense now."

So I started to wonder what I could do. I wanted to create my own minimalist poster series, but all the good ones were already taken—everyone is on a superhero kick nowadays. I wanted to do something unique; something that has never been done before. So God hit me alongside the head with an idea: Bible stories. There are countless stories within the Bible that need to be told in unique, modern ways.

With that said, I'm honored to share this original series of minimalist posters about the very beginning. Over the next several weeks, I will be releasing minimalist posters one at a time from my Creation poster series.

Creation Day 1 comes from Genesis 1:3-5 (NLT) which says "Then God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light 'day' and the darkness 'night.' And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day." How cool is that?! God simply spoke and there was light. I love how something as complex as light was so easily made.
