(Suggested for 6th - 12th grade, limit 12 students)
For middle school or high school students desiring to take an entire schoolyear of all seven of our 4-Week 7 Elements of Art Courses (Lines, Shapes, Color, Value, Texture, Form and Space) who are willing to attend weekly in-studio classes and also complete our suggestions for supplemental hours for homework, research and practice outside of class. This full Course-load would fulfill the SC Home School fine arts class requirement of at least 120.
Each class, students will receive age-appropriate, hands-on art lessons to learn about the element, observe famous artists using this concept, and will create a unique work of art in response (ranging in media—drawing, painting, oil pastels, mixed media, etc.). This is not a “follow these steps for this specific art project” type of class, but rather a “learn the concepts and techniques so you can make your own art with confidence” kind of class. Suggested “home work” will be assigned each class and will receive critique from Instructor upon turning in the following class.
