Minimalist Bible: Creation Day 7

I've been a big fan of the minimalist poster designs. Taking something as complex as a person or a movie and stripping it down to one powerful graphical element that is instantly recognizable. I wanted to do something unique; something that had never been done before. So God hit me alongside the head with an idea: Bible stories. If you wish to see the previous posters, check out Creation Day 1Creation Day 2Creation Day 3Creation Day 4Creation Day 5, and Creation Day 6 now.

Each Wednesday over the last few weeks, I have been unveiling my original minimalist poster series focused on the Creation story. Today I'm excited to release the ninth poster of the series, Creation Day 7.

Creation Day 7 comes from Genesis 2:1-4 (NLT) which says, "So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation. This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth."

Day 7 is usually forgotten by most people. After an extremely busy week, God took an entire day to REST and refresh. Everyone nowadays is so focused on getting their check lists done that we forget that we need to rest and relax, just like our Creator did. I'm totally guilty of this because I become so focused on my own personal tasks. It's really cool to think that God kicked back and looked over everything He accomplished over the week. I wonder if He walked the beaches of Eden while sipping on some fancy drink He created? Or did He go on a cool space adventure to see one of the galaxies He created way back on Day 4? Either way, God rested and relaxed. He even blessed it and declared it holy—set apart from the rest of the week. Meaning, God really wants us to kick back and spend some time resting and relaxing from the work we do during the week as well.

I have been recently reminded that I need to rest more often. It's important to get away from the computer and enjoy the world that God created. I don't want to get burned out or so task-oriented that I miss the bigger picture that God created. I should give a day back to God because He was the one who created me and gave me life. He deserves a day where I sit back and chill with Him, the Creator of the Universe, even if it's not on the beaches of Eden or on a cool rocket ship checking out another galaxy.
