On September 15, 2014 (one year ago today), Chad and I were loading our lives into a U-Haul to move across the country. Although we were definitely looking forward to our new chapter in Raleigh, North Carolina, it was so hard to leave so many friends, clients and memories behind in southeastern Wisconsin. Plus, putting that Lake Michigan lakefront in our rearview (especially as a nature-lover and photographer) was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Love conquers all | A Kenosha Engagement Session

When Kyle and Samantha met online just over a year ago, they couldn't stop talking to one another. After several lengthy online message exchanges, they planned a formal date for a few days later! ...Except they couldn't wait that long, so they got together for a "pre-date" ice cream hang out the evening before their actual date. Love it!

Six months into their relationship, Kyle knew he wanted to marry Samantha. The last month for these two love birds has been quite the wild ride...

Abby | Case High School Senior '14

I could sit and listen to Abby strum her guitar and sing to me all day...this girl's got talent! Plus, Abby was a natural in front of the camera! I can't get over her pretty smile and infectious, endless laughter. She's a senior at Case High School (Racine, WI) and it was our honor to do her Senior Session this past fall. We're lucky to know Abby and her family quite well, actually, as we attend the same church.

Brooke | Case High School Senior '14

Talk about a go-getter! This is Brooke—she's a senior at Case High School (Racine, WI) and it was our honor to do her Senior Session this past September. She's such a sweetheart! How can you not smile when you hear her giggle or talk about her love for people & plans she has for her future??

Brooke is counting the days until she heads out to Minnesota State University in the fall, but until then, she's just looking forward to the completion of all of her IB testing! Back in October, Brooke said May 16th couldn't come soon enough... "It will be all hard work until then!" SO CLOSE, Brooke! Keep it up!

What a blessing to get up this morning to watch the sunrise with my love outside our apartment. We're desperately looking forward to sunshine—until the time is right, sometimes you just have to go looking for it. It was only 40°F, but it was gorgeous—a moment that will never be able to be repeated in quite the same way. Time spent as husband and wife is great anywhere, but this Lake Michigan home is so special to us!

Early signs of spring in Kenosha

After a long stretch of negative temps and frigid air, we're finally starting to see some early signs of spring outside our apartment. The snow by our rocky Kenosha beachfront is slowly melting away and slices of ice crunch and creak as they inch to the shore. The sights and sounds are equally serene and spectacular.

In noticing that it was 45°F this morning, I couldn't help but run out to the lake to snap these five shots with my iPhone. It sure is beautiful! No matter the season, this view never gets old to me. It's the first day of Spring Break for students in our area... Beach day anyone?? :)

The most special fishing lure | Bryan & Maddy's engagement

I first met Maddy when I worked with her a few years ago. Her witty, laid back personality easily added her to my must-have friends list. After she introduced us to Bryan, it was obvious that they were perfect for each other! They're not exactly sure when they "officially" started dating, so they just picked 08-08-2008 to make it easy to remember. "It was around that time—early August—so we made it easy," Bryan said.
