Mimi and Charlie | Real Life Session in Raleigh
"Sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws." –Barbara Kingsolver
Anytime I have a chance to document motherhood, it's a true joy. This Mini Session with Mimi and her sweet little Charlie was certainly one of those opportunities. Mimi told me that she and her son had never had professional portraits together before, but that she loved the documentary style of capturing their "real life" together, so this Real Life Session with us was ideal!
As Chad and I watched them playing together at Pullen Park in Raleigh, we didn't do any coaxing or posing them. We let their natural interaction surrounding their activities take over. It's so clear that their mother-son relationship is so special. Charlie loves being close to his mom, tossing sticks into the water and watching trains. Mimi knows just how to make him giggle, comes alive when he's in her arms, and is so loving and gentle with him. Unfortunately, at one point Charlie was having so much fun running down the bridge that gravity got the best of him and he skinned his little knee. Mimi was underneath him nearly immediately, ready to console him and take away his pain. Documenting little moments of genuine motherhood like that make this job so rewarding for me!
I hope you enjoy these highlights from their recent Mini Session...
