Horlick Senior | Embracing life and hoping to save it

There are some who embrace life as it comes, live to the fullest, and enjoy the little things. I love Eva's expression in this shot—she came alive on that merry-go-round. LOVE it! What a blast we had during her unique senior session.

Eva just graduated from Horlick High School in Racine! Talk about exciting, right? She's got big plans for her future, too. Read all about her as you check out these beautiful highlights...

Horlick Senior | Aja's silly, smiley session

Congratulations to Aja on her recent graduation from Horlick High School! A huge accomplishment.... If you take a glance at her overly decorated (and very heavy) letterman's jacket, you'll be able to tell that while she was at Horlick, she spent a fair amount of time in the band room and in the swimming pool. She plays the flute (including piccolo and alto flutes) and has been swimming since......well, forever, I think.

Aja is beautiful inside and out. I've got the photos to prove it! Read more about her story as you check out these highlights...

Case Senior | A taste of freedom

Congratulations to one of Case High School's recent grads! This is Chad. He is one of the most chill students we've known; very easy-going, fun to be around, loyal to his friends and level-headed. Right now he's got the taste freedom in his mouth after graduating last weekend!

We've known Chad and his family for several years, so it was such an honor to shoot his senior portraits. Check out the highlights...

Relationships 101: Attention

Last night, we ended up in some really good, honest conversation with a friend about relationships. Chad and I got talking about some of the "relationship tools" we learned while we were at the CONNECT retreat a few weeks ago. (If you missed the my CONNECT post, read it when you get a chance. Good stuff in there.) While we were at the retreat, we had the chance to be away—undistracted—and learn from other married couples like ourselves and even some Marriage Experts. Everyone was passing around different tips about how they smooth out their communication skills and relieve tension in their relationships. Honestly, after hearing it all, NONE of it was rocket science. It's not even super breakthrough or earth-shattering information.... BUT, it works.

We love LOVE. And we realize, as a married couple, that you really have to work at it sometimes. I thought it would be cool to share some of that juicy info here on our blog in a "Relationships 101" series. Here's the first one...

Love, laughter and crutches | Tim & Lindsay are Engaged

This fall, we had the opportunity to do an engagement photo session with very close friends of ours. Tim has been a loyal friend of Chad's for many years and he's honored to be one of his Groomsmen in September. "When I first got to know Tim in 5th grade, I thought he'd be a good friend to have because he was known as 'Bone Crusher'. He wrestled an eighth grader and broke his leg! To this day, we all still call him 'Bone'," Chad explains. "When I found out that he had proposed to Lindsay, I was extremely excited for them!" We have LOVED getting to know Lindsay over the last six years that they've been together. They are such a fun couple!

This is the sweet story of Tim and Lindsay...

A calling from God, 2-years in the making

Words sometimes can't describe the AWE of God. We try our best to create words but the words that we invent—like AWEsomeness—don't even scratch the surface of God's character and mystery. Amber and I have had the privilege to go on mission trips through our church's Youth Group for a handfull of years. We've served in the hills of Kentucky (2009), the streets of Washington, D.C. (2010), and the tent cities of Haiti (2011). When we returned from Haiti, God told us that it was time to transition out of youth ministry and into something new—Young Adult Ministry. We were a little nervous at first because we had been in youth ministry for 10 years, but we continued to understand that it was time for a new season. We’ve had unique opportunities to see God working firsthand and we wanted other young adults to be able to experience that too! We started asking God what we should do...
