Finally some snow in Raleigh!

It's finally snowing in Raleigh! I know, I know.... it's only two inches deep so far, but I'll take it! This is our first winter in Raleigh, North Carolina since moving here from Wisconsin five months ago. If you know me well, you know I L-O-V-E snow. I left work at my desk for a quick half hour to snap a few photos of my favorite season. Here are a few of my image highlights...

Our niece is one today!

Last year on this day, we became an Aunt and Uncle! My sister, Kendra, had little Adriana Leigh who weighed in at 3 pounds 15 ounces and measured 17.5 inches long. She had the tiniest little body I've ever seen, but she was a little fighter. Today, she turned one! She's so strong and has the cutest little personality. Here are a few photos from Christmas when I last saw her in person. It was one of the most memorable, special family visits!

I still do. | Our 7th Wedding Anniversary

Seven years ago today, we were married in Kenosha, WI, surrounded by people we loved—with snow up to our knees. Chad and I will be the first to confess that our marriage—regardless of what it looks like on the outside—is not always beautiful, but we work hard to improve it all the time. We wanted to re-share our wedding vows publicly in this post, and also share some photos from our wedding and a blingy little bonus.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to 2015, everybody. 2014 was quite a year. Chad and I have SO many important moments to look back on... Over the last couple of weeks, we've been doing a great deal of praying, brainstorming, dreaming and goal-setting for our future. We'll be sharing more about some of this later, but for now, we are brimming with excitement from the New Year's party we attended last night and can't wait to share the highlights!

Raleigh Winterfest 2014

On Saturday, Chad and I went to our first downtown festival in Raleigh: Winterfest! Despite the rain, and even though it was 55°F (MUCH warmer than any "winter" celebration these northerners have had!) we very much enjoyed our experience. It turns out, you don't have to be able to see your breath to make it feel like Christmas. *wink, wink*

Read more about the festivities & take a look at photos from the event...

Beautiful Bright Side Youth Ranch

Devin and Tia Tharp are great friends of ours. We got to know them when we all lived in Wisconsin and went to church together. Over the last seven years, we have become quite close and have had many parallels in the ways we follow God's adventures for our lives.

One of the most recent reasons we're proud to call them friends is their up & coming non-profit, Bright Side Youth Ranch. Read on for more of this story and to see fall photos of their new property.

Fall in North Carolina

Chad and I are learning all about the differences in timing of seasons here in North Carolina, in comparison to the northern midwest. Three weeks ago (Nov 13), we got up early and spent a weekday morning before work walking around Historic Oak View County Park. What perfect timing! The fall colors were absolutely beautiful and it was about 60°F—perfect for a fall nature walk. We soaked in the sights, took deep breaths, laughed together and didn't think about the challenges of life at all. Our focus was shifted, in the most refreshing way possible.

I hope you enjoy these photo highlights from our walk...

Finding time to take breaks

Lately, Chad and I have been work-work-working away on SO many amazing images for our clients. We're finishing up the tale end of our busiest season of the year, and if you've been following us, you probably noticed we also just made a pretty big life change as we moved across the country. We're trying to finish current work, network ourselves, make new friends, and set up work for the future. We've been going at one speed for about a month now: FULL.

Today, it was time for a break! Here are some fun, fall highlights we wanted to share...
